FALL IS HERE! IT’S HERE!

For those of you who don’t live in the 113 degree, burning hot southern parts of California… this may not be as exciting to you as it is to me, but it is exciting either way! I have kept two tiny kids indoors and out of the hot sun while my husband has been busy working for weeks now and I am so excited to finally be able to escape for date nights with him and do all the romantic fall-things together.

Need some fall date ideas?! Here are some of our favorites:

  1. Go apple picking & bake an apple pie together afterwards

  2. Visit a pumpkin patch, do some pumpkin carving & bake the pumpkin seeds

  3. Is it even fall if you don’t get a Pumpkin Spice Latte or Hazelnut Macchiato?

  4. Open the windows to let in the cool air, light a fire, make some homemade popcorn, and watch Hocus Pocus or Ghostbusters

  5. Find local cider and wine tasting events

  6. Camping, s’mores, & stargazing

  7. Go to a haunted house together and get hot chocolate afterwards.

  8. Drive around and look at fall / Halloween decorations in your local area

  9. Go to a Harvest Festival or local Fall Fest

  10. Go see a movie at the drive-in with tons of blankets

  11. Invite friends to a bonfire and listen to some good music

  12. Go to the nearest “Old Town” and explore

  13. Go for a walk together, all bundled up, and enjoy the fall leaves

  14. Go antiquing!

  15. Go to a costume party dressed as a dynamic duo

  16. Search for “Fall Desserts” on Pinterest or Google and pick one to make together

  17. Cook dinner together! Nothing says “Fall is here!” like soup does.

  18. Make coffee & pumpkin spice waffles on a Saturday morning and snuggle in bed

  19. Grab of copy of our book 365 Connecting Questions for Couples and go through it together

  20. Make Caramel Apples together

  21. Make homemade donuts and decorate them

  22. Do a fall couples photo shoot

  23. Light fall-scented candles and melt into each other 😉

  24. Go zip-lining through the fall leaves!

  25. Pop Popcorn on the cob

  26. Get lost in a corn-maze together

  27. Make a fort in the living room, put on a movie, and make out!

  28. Have a chili cook off with your best friends

  29. Have a dinner date where you both try a new kind of food you’ve never had before

  30. Football game and tailgating; don’t forget the bratwurst – yummy!

We want to hear from you. Do you and your spouse have any fun fall date ideas?

Hello everyone!

The London meetups outdoors in a park have been going well, but I’m not willing to bet on British weather in October.

The good news is that our old venue is open again for this type of activity.

Pandemic rules in England now allow us to meet up without restriction, although we still need to be sensible. So, here we go:

16th October, 1pm, Royal Festival Hall, Southbank Centre, SE1 8XX.

The venue has step free access and accessible toilets. The accessibility map is here.

We will be on Level 2 (the upper levels are closed to non-ticket-holders), but I don’t know exactly where on the floor. It will depend on where we can find a table. I will have my plush Chthulu which looks like this:

Please bring your masks/exemption lanyards, and obey any rules posted in the venue.

The food market outside (side opposite the river) is pretty good for all sorts of requirements, and you can also bring food from home, or there are lots of cafes on the riverfront.

Please email me at the below to say you’re coming.

No RSVPs via any other method accepted – e.g. no text messages, no comments here, no facebook likes, etc. Please make sure you email me.

Please make sure you also update me if you RSVP yes but later can’t come.

Other things to bear in mind:

  1. Please make sure you follow social distancing rules. This particularly includes respecting people’s personal space and their choices about distancing.
  2. We have all had a terrible time for the last year. Sharing your struggles is okay and is part of what the group is for, but we need to be careful not to overwhelm each other or have the conversation be entirely negative. Where I usually draw the line here is that personal struggles are fine to talk about but political rants are discouraged, but I may have to move this line on the day when I see how things go. Don’t worry, I will tell you!
  3. Probably lots of us have forgotten how to be around people (most likely me as well), so here is permission to walk away if you need space. Also a reminder that we will all react differently, so be careful to give others space if they need.

I will cancel this meetup if government guidance changes, so keep an eye on this space.
